Barcelona youngster Bojan Krkic is reportedly being lined up by Liverpool on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old Spaniard, who can play on the wing or up front, is expected to be sent out on loan next season in an attempt to get more experience and game time.
He is one of European football’s hottest prospects – having made his debut for the Catalan giants at just 17.
But with Barca’s strike force including the likes of Lionel Messi and David Villa, the pint-sized number 9 has struggled for first team opportunities.
He has just signed a long-term deal with the Spanish champions but boss Pep Guardiola is thought to be interested in sending him out on loan – alerting Liverpool Director of Football Strategy Damien Commoli.
The Frenchman worked with Barcelona while at Spurs, bringing Giovanni dos Santos to White Hart Lane and would be keen to add Bojan to the Liverpool squad for the 2011/12 campaign.
Despite spending £58 million in January on Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, Liverpool lack strength in depth up front with Dirk Kuyt used as an auxiliary striker and David Ngog struggling to produce the goods on the main stage.
There are high hopes in the Liverpool Reserves for Daniel Pacheco but he is yet to be given his chance in the first team while Kenny Dalglish is hesitant about rushing 16-year-old wonderkid Raheem Sterling despite his youth team exploits.
The addition of Bojan for one season would provide adequate support of Suarez and Carroll and boost help with the young Spaniard’s development.
Tottenham and Arsenal are also rumoured to be monitoring Bojan’s situation, according to Sky Sports.
