Lindsay Lohan is under investigation after $2500 worth of jewellery went missing from a Los Angeles boutique.
The Los Angeles district attorney has received the file from the LAPD, and will decide whether the actress should be charged.
Spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons told CNN: “They presented the evidence about midday [on Wednesday].
“We have the case under review. No decision will be made today. I can’t say when it might be made.”
The ‘one of a kind’ necklace, described as gold with semi-precious stones, was reported stolen on 22 January.
Lindsay was allegedly caught wearing it on CCTV, and police were preparing a search warrant when an associate of hers reportedly returned it to the shop.
If the district attorney’s office decides there is suitable evidence, Lindsay could face charges of grand theft and second-degree commercial burglary.
The troubled starlet, 24, is currently on probation for a drink-driving incident, and recently completed treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic rehab centre.
Her lawyer has so far declined to comment on the latest allegations.
