Council workers have been sacked and others reprimanded after bosses found them logged onto porn sites, using saucy adult chat rooms and posting work gossip on Facebook.
Lincolnshire County Council axed one member of staff and handed others final warnings following an investigation into office internet abuse.
One embarrassed worker was marched out of his office for looking at pornography when he should have been working.
Other officials were disciplined during the past two years for shopping on eBay, browsing gaming sites and publicising council secrets on Facebook.
Judith Davids, county council assistant director of people and modernisation, said: ”To promote a healthy work to life balance, the council allows limited personal use of the internet by staff provided they follow our published Code of Practice and that it does not impact on their job.”
In total, there have been five confirmed cases of internet abuse by council workers, a sixth is under investigation and one case was recently dropped.
