A £140,000 Lamborghini supercar bought by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson for a DARE is for sale on Auto Trader, it emerged today.
The outspoken TV presenter and journalist was persuaded to buy the flash-looking Gallardo Spyder model by Top Gear co-star James May in 2007.
At the time floppy-haired May told Clarkson ”he can’t very well spend his entire professional life extolling the virtues of the supercar if he hasn’t got one.”

Motormouth Clarkson fell hook, line and sinker for his old friend’s trick – with May renowned for tempting his co-stars into making impulsive purchases.
But instead of buying an old banger for £500, Clarkson forked out a staggering £140,000 on the Italian supercar.
He said: ”I should have put my fingers in my ears and sung at the top of my voice.

”But I really do like the baby Lambo, so he was pushing against an open door.
”And as a result, I got into the car with him, and Hammond, and went to the nearest Lamborghini showroom.”
Clarkson then agreed to buy the metallic grey supercar and opted to have it fitted with a TV, sat-nav and ORANGE seats – setting him back a cool £140,000.

The Lamborghini, which has 19,000 miles on the clock, is fitted with with a 5-litre V10 engine engine which develops a collosal 540bhp.
In top gear the convertible supercar will hit a top speed of 193mph – with a rip-roaring exhaust tone.
Clarkson described his Lamborghini as being as exciting to drive as ”being on fire and then putting yourself out by jumping over Niagara Falls.”
It is now being advertised on Auto Trader by Buckinghamshire High Performance with the Lamborghini specialist selling the supercar for £89,995.
Neil Panikker, director of BHP, said: ”Jeremy’s Gallardo is identical in colour and specification to the one that he drove in a Top Gear feature.
”It seems he enjoyed it that much he placed an order for one for himself! An impressive endorsement of a fantastic supercar.”
