Jennifer Lopez is stepping in to Simon Cowell’s shoes as American Idol’s most straight-talking judge, according to Ryan Seacrest.
The show’s host revealed J-Lo is set to become the brutally honest one now that Simon, 51, has left the show to concentrate on US X Factor.
He told reporters: “Who’s the mean one now Simon’s gone? Jennifer. She expects a lot. She’s tough, but she gives tough love.”
The 36-year-old presenter also revealed that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is the show’s answer to Cheryl Cole with his tendency to get tearful.
He continued: “Steven is probably our most emotional judge.
“We will probably see tears from Steven as well as laughs, and he’s a prankster too. But they get along very well on the road.”
Jennifer, 41, and 62-year-old Steven were revealed as the panel’s new judges last September following the departures of Simon and Ellen DeGeneres. They will join sole remaining judge Randy Jackson when the show starts again later this month.
