The 2011 Brit Awards are stirring up excitement with the unveiling of a new Vivienne Westwood-designed statuette and the confirmation of funnyman James Corden as host.
Legendary British fashion designer Westwood has swathed the iconic statue in a Union Jack gown, reminiscent of the slightly-less-classy knicker-flashing version which Spice Girl Geri Halliwell famously performed in at the 1997 awards.
Meanwhile Gavin & Stacey star James, 31, has signed a three-year deal with the organisers after their original choice, Justin Timberlake, turned their offer down.
The comedian, who hosted the 2009 show alongside Mat Horne and Kylie Minogue, stated he believes his second attempt this year will be more successful.
He told The Sun: “It definitely works better with one host. It’s the job I want! After watching Peter Kay I’m sure I could do better. Bring it on! Peter was good but he could have been more enthusiastic.”
Other changes to the annual music awards this year include a new venue in the form of the O2 arena. They were previously held at Earl’s Court for the past 11 years.
