It can be hard to find stylish clothing when you’re sporting a bump – and even more so when you want to do some exercise!
Launching this month, SpeedBump Maternity Activewear offers an innovative new range of clothes for women who want to remain active throughout their pregnancy.
The UK-made maternity sportswear range boasts everything from racing tops to leggings and is designed to be functional and sculpting, yet fashionable.
Made with high-quality technical fabrics, the clothes feature innovative detail including integrated meshes for additional ventilation and flat lock seams to avoid chafing of women’s sensitive skin during pregnancy.
Co-founder Rachel Studer had the initial idea for the maternity range when she fell pregnant herself and had to borrow her husband’s clothes to go running after she outgrew her usual kit.
She explained: “I continued to wear my usual sportswear for as long as possible, however I not only ruined my clothes by doing so but also found them tight and uncomfortable. It was important to me to stay active while pregnant and I wanted to keep doing the sports I love – that’s when I realised there was a gap in the market.
“It is very difficult to find functional maternity sportswear and what is available usually only comes in dark colours. We’ve got a great collection of functional activewear that is available in beautiful colours and provides a flattering fit throughout pregnancy.
“Our tops are much longer than standard sportswear so your bump will always remain covered and all our fabrics are extremely flexible so you can wear the clothes comfortably throughout your entire pregnancy.”
SpeedBump was founded in April 2016. Working in close collaboration with pregnant athletes and an independent designer in the UK, SpeedBump has spent over a year to refine its designs and create an innovative line of maternity activewear.
Keeping up a regular exercise regime throughout your pregnancy can help you and your baby stay healthy, as well as helping you feel good. It can also decrease common problems associated with pregnancy, including backache, poor posture and fatigue.
The new range, starting at £54 for a racer top, is available to buy from August 21, at: www.speedbumpactivewear.com
