Gwen Stefani has confessed to be being so vain that she used to refuse to let make-up artists touch her.
The singer-turn-fashion-designer told the new issue of US Elle magazine: “I’m very vain. That would be my middle name. Of course I am, you know what I mean? I love the visual.”
Her obsession with her looks meant that when she was younger she didn’t even trust make-up artists to help her get ready.
She explained: “In the past I had a real problem with make-up artists.
“I remember my first experience with a make-up artist was doing the first No Doubt album. Go back and look at how ugly I look… It was the worst make-up.
“From that time on I’m thinking, I’m not going to let someone do my make-up, because they don’t know how to do it.”
Gwen also spoke about her enviable relationship with musician Gavin Rossdale, gushing: “It’s unbelievable that we’ve been able to stay together. I feel so proud of us – it’s one of my biggest acheivements.”
