An 81 year-old grandfather was kept waiting in a chair to leave hospital for 25 HOURS.
Kenneth Berwick spent an afternoon, night and most of the following day sat bolt upright waiting for an ambulance to take him home.
The pensioner, who is permanently hooked up to an oxygen tank, was admitted to Darent Valley Hospital in Kent on October 30 suffering from a violent and serious nose bleed.
The following day he was transferred to the Medway Hospital and was told he he would be taken home by ambulance at 3pm on November 1.
But the vehicle failed to arrive until almost 5pm the following day and he spent more than 25 hours sat in a chair because nobody helped him onto the bed.
His furious wife Doreen, 77, said: “When I got there he was still sat in his armchair, the bed had not been made and the nurses had obviously not put him in it.
“He was more or less left to fend for himself. To leave somebody like that in an armchair fully dressed overnight – to me it leaves so much to be desired it’s unbelievable.”
Medway NHS Trust have not yet commented on the case.
