The stars of sitcom Gavin & Stacey have tweeted their ”sadness” at the death of actress Margaret John, who played Doris in the popular show.
Margaret, 84, who passed away in hospital in Swansea in the early hours of this morning after a short illness, had a career spanning six decades.
She received a Bafta Cymru Lifetime Achievement award in 2009 and also starred in BBC Wales comedy High Hopes.
But the Welsh actress will be best remembered for her recent appearances as sex-mad spinster Doris in the BBC comedy series written by James Corden and Ruth Jones.
Father-to-be James Corden tweeted: ”All my thoughts are with the family of Margaret John who played Doris in G and S.
“A great actress and an incredible lady. She will be missed.”
Comedian Rob Brydon, who played hilarious Uncle Bryn added: “Just heard the terribly sad news that Margaret John has passed away.
“What a wonderful person she was, everyone on G&S adored her.”
Margaret’s last appearance was in the new S4C drama Alys on Sunday night.
