Tottenham have confirmed that winger Gareth Bale has not travelled to Italy for the Champions League clash against AC Milan.
The Welsh wizard, who destroyed Inter Milan in two CL matches earlier this season, has failed to recover from a back injury in time for tomorrow’s clash.
Bale has been in blistering form this season for Spurs – with his performance against Inter Milan standing out for particular praise.
The 21-year-old tore Inter defender Maicon to shreds as he scored a sensational hat-trick in the English side’s 4-3 defeat. In the return match Bale continued to exploit Maicon’s weaknesses as Spurs romped to victory at White Hart Lane.
Spurs fans would have been hoping Bale could repeat his San Siro heroics on his return to the famous Italian ground but Harry Redknapp has decided not to risk the youngster.
Redknapp told The Daily Mail: “We cannot take a chance with him. The specialists have looked at him and it doesn’t look too bad but he doesn’t feel he is right.
“He worked with the fitness coaches on Saturday and when they pushed him he could not do it.”
