An elite firearms officer is in hot water this morning after he left a taser and FOUR cartridges on the roof of his police car and drove off.
The policeman, from the CO19 firearms unit, was attending a briefing in Lambeth, south London, yesterday between 7am and 8.30 when the embarrassing incident happened.
During the course of leaving the briefing, the officer – who is now under investigation – placed the taser and the cartridges on the roof of his police car before forgetting about them and driving off.
Officers believe the taser, which is yellow and the shape of handgun, would have fallen off the vehicle Norfolk Road area of Lambeth.
Despite a thorough search officers were unable to recover the dangerous weapon.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Police are appealing for the assistance of the public in finding a Taser which has fallen from a police vehicle in Lambeth.
“We would ask anyone in possession of the Taser not to handle it, but to call police immediately.
Police confirmed the Directorate of Professional Standards had been informed and an internal investigation is underway.
