Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has finally broken his silence on Sunday’s disappointing defeat to Liverpool.
The 69-year-old imposed a total media blackout after the fiery encounter at Anfield which saw the home team win 3-1 courtesy of a Dirk Kuyt hat-trick.
Unsurprisingly Ferguson was angry at his side’s performance which leaves the club just three points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the league with the Gunners having one match in hand.
Ferguson told Sky Sports: “I have no excuses for the poor performance at Liverpool, who were the better team and deserved their win.
“I was disappointed because we didn’t perform to the level I expect and which, to be fair, we generally achieve.”
United’s media snub is rumoured to have particularly upset the club’s Portuguese winger Nani who was stretchered off with a shin injury following a horror challenge from Jamie Carragher.
Nani is understood to be disappointed no one from United spoke publicly about the incident which has put the 24-year-old out of action for three weeks.
There was also a level of disappointment that Ryan Giggs could not speak to the media after he broke Bobby Charlton’s appearance record, running out for United for the 607th time.
Fergies bubble has burst al last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a load of rubbish. The media blackout was announced before the Liverpool game even started. No bubbles have burst I’m afraid. United will still win the league!!!
I can’t believe that Ferguson, finally, didn’t make excuses. And Carragher’s challenge was not a ‘horror tackle’ nor a ‘lunge’ it was mistimed as he went in when the ball was already in the air.
Rafael, however, should have been sent off for his two footed attack on Skrtel, A challenge extremely similar to the one Steven Gerrard got sent off for in the FA Cup against United
bollocks, Carraghers tackle was horrendous, and Rafael was fouled in the lead up to his poor challenge. Murderers the lot of you.
well, at least the refs are not helping them win? or are they as is the case even with Barcelona?
