Exide Technologies, a leading global provider of stored electrical energy solutions, attracted large crowds at this year’s CeMAT. The company showed its latest battery innovations, including GNB-branded TENSOR, TENSOR xGEL and Sonnenschein Lithium. Its next-generation products are already used in a range of challenging applications, helping businesses reduce costs and improve operating performance.
“This was a record-breaking CeMAT for Exide. We presented our most innovative technology and showed how it’s being used in large distribution centres, international airports and some of the most demanding environments around the world. Visitors were excited to see where the market is headed, and eager to take their business to the next level,” said Michael Geiger, VP Sales & Marketing EMEA at Exide Technologies.
GNB TENSOR was presented in a large ice cube, highlighting its performance in outdoor and cold storage environments. In low temperatures, it outperforms a standard traction battery by more than 50%. It is also known for its low total cost of ownership, fast recharging, long operating hours and ability to handle heavy-duty applications, making it the ideal battery for a wide range of businesses.
GNB’s Sonnenschein Lithium was popular with the crowds at CeMAT, with large interest in the new 80V option, perfect for large counterbalance forklifts. Compared with standard batteries, lithium-ion batteries are more energy efficient and recharge around eight times faster. This makes it possible to run a 24/7 operation on a single battery, through short bursts of recharging while workers take breaks.
GNB TENSOR xGEL combines the high performance of TENSOR with the zero-maintenance benefits of Sonnenschein Gel. It is already available for customer field trials, and warehouse managers showed particular interest in the technology. The battery fully recharges in 8 hours, allowing for two-shift operations. This is achieved by combining GNB’s 2100 HP Charger with its proprietary X-profile charging regime.
CeMAT 2016 took place in Hannover and attracted visitors from around the world. Exide was in the MOVE & LIFT section. Its stand offered free ‘power ups’ for visitors, with well-appreciated refreshments and a secure mobile phone recharging station. Exide also hosted a popular stand party on the Wednesday evening of the fair, featuring a DJ and a salsa dancing show.
