A 28-year-old has been banned from driving after he was found asleep in his car – in a GOLF BUNKER.
Reckless Timothy Hudson had been at a party dressed as a pirate when he got into his Land Rover.
Despite drinking seven pints he drove across a golf course and crashed into a golf bunker – and then fell asleep.
Hudson was found near the fifth hole of the Royal North Devon Golf Club in Westward Ho!, Devon.
The accident happened after Hudson, of Bideford, Devon, had been at a party in a pub on September 5.
He had 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35.
He pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle while above the drink drive limit at North Devon Magistrates Court.
Hudson, a married marine engineer, was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Prosecuting, Lindsey Baker, said: “Mr Hudson’s white Land Rover was found lying completely on its offside in a sand bunker at about 7.25am.
”The officers saw the keys were still in the ignition and the electrics were still running in the car.”
His defence solicitor Jen Law said Hudson was ”trying to avoid the roads” and ”looking for a place to sleep”.
She said: ”He is absolutely mortified. He knows he should not have driven that night.”
