A creepy delivery driver tried to kiss a customer and stuck his tongue in her EAR after offering to help her assemble a flat-packed bed, a court heard.
Deaf Victor Rollasons, 56, grabbed the 29-year-old woman moments after delivering a bed to her home.
The terrified woman managed to fight him off and persuaded Rollasons to leave – but as he was leaving he licked the side of her face and stuck his tongue in her ear.
Rollasons was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for a year after he was convicted of sexual assault at Northampton Crown Court.
Judge Charles Wide QC said: ”Women alone at home must feel completely confident they are not going to be assaulted by someone making a delivery.
”The fact you had a trial does not make the position worse for you but it does mean I cannot give you any credit.
”It also makes it difficult for your counsel to submit that you are remorseful. I saw your behaviour at trial and am satisfied you are not remorseful at all.
”You are sorry you have been caught.”
The trial heard Rollasons worked for Furniture Direct when he delivered a flat-packed bed to a woman’s home in Braunston, Northants., on September 25 last year.
He offered to help the woman, a mature student, assemble the bed and she agreed to let him into her home.
Rebecca Wade, prosecuting, told the court: ”It was unusual for drivers to assemble deliveries but he offered to assist and went into the property.
”While inside he grabbed hold of the woman and went to kiss her.
”She reacted and turned her face away so his lips brushed the side of her face leaving saliva as he hugged her closer.”
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pushed him away and ordered him to leave but as he did he lunged at her again.
Miss Waded said: ”He licked the whole right side of her face and stuck his tongue in her ear.
”As he walked away the woman reported he had a funny smirk on his face as he winked at her.”
A jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict after a two-day trial which finished on Tuesday.
Rollasons, from Hinckley, Leics., was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and given a six month curfew banning him from leaving his home between 7pm and 6am.
