David Beckham has unveiled a new tattoo depicting himself as Jesus and his three sons as cherubs.
The England legend, who is a renowned fan of the needle, posted a picture of the chest tattoo on his Facebook page.
It shows a Jesus-like figure surrounded by three cherubs, representing himself and his sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and six-year-old Cruz.
He explained: “It is Jesus being carried by three cherubs and obviously the cherubs are my boys and so my thought of it is that at some point my boys are going to need to look after me and that’s what they’re doing in the picture.
“It means a lot.”
David revealed that inspiration for his designs often comes to him first thing in the morning.
He said: “I don’t plan on having a tattoo, just sometimes I wake up and I have an idea of an image I’d like on me.
“It’s just something that I’ve found kind of expresses how I feel or thoughts I have or memories. There’s not one tattoo I’ve got on me that doesn’t mean something.”
His latest piece of artwork was carried out by Los Angeles-based tattooist Mark Mahoney and took a mammoth eight hours.
David’s other tattoos include wife Victoria’s name in Hindi on his arm and a guardian angel on his back.
Victoria is currently pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.
Poor soccer boy, this only shows you really don’t need any brains to be a great sportster, although he showed this already by getting married by valuable victoria…
