A conwoman fleeced two doting boyfriends out of money by pretending she was pregnant, had twins, was battling terminal cancer – and was DEAD, a court heard.

Juliet Clarke, 31, convinced her first victim to hand over money by telling him she was terminally ill and was about to inherit £250,000.

The pair dated for six months in 2011 but after they split the man then noticed £1,838 missing from his bank account – including £259 she spent on a holiday.

He contacted her but Clarke sent him a string of messages pretending to be her father and saying she had died, a court heard.

Clarke then moved onto a second victim, a serviceman she met over the internet while he was serving in Afghanistan.

She told him she was suffering ovarian and cervical cancer and borrowed money for a fictional uncle’s funeral.

But when he ended the relationship Clarke said she was pregnant with twins and needed more money.

She even sent him a picture from the New York Times Pregnancy Guide to show off her supposedly swollen stomach.

But the soldier and his mother grew suspicious and Clarke sent them pictures and details about a pair of premature twins – including their names and medical conditions.

Investigations later proved Clarke was never pregnant and was sterilised, the court was told.

Clarke’s web of lies was revealed at Plymouth Magistrates Court in Devon where she admitted three counts of fraud by false representation.

Prosecutor Jenny Cater said: “This is confidence fraud characterised by a degree of planning.”

Magistrates ordered Clarke, of Launceston, Cornwall, to return to court next month for sentencing.
