X Factor’s Cheryl Cole has been offered a £3 million deal to star as a judge on the American version of the show.
The Geordie lass, 27, will be joining Simon Cowell on the judging panel when the show airs next year.
Although the contract is still unsigned, Cheryl has reportedly been told by bosses at TV network Fox that the job is hers if she wants it.
A source told The Sun: “The execs love her good looks and the way she wears her heart on her sleeve.”
Rumours had been circulating that Cheryl could be on the judging panel for a while, but the deal was reportedly confirmed on Saturday after Fox bosses flew in to London to watch the show.
Cracking the American market has been on Cheryl’s wish-list for some time. As well as teaming up with US rapper Will.I.Am on her music projects she has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles with her ‘close friend,’ dancer Derek Hough.
She has also secured a record deal to release her second album, Messy Little Raindrops, stateside. The exposure that US X Factor will bring could turn her in to a household name both sides of the Atlantic.
Simon Cowell has confirmed he will be announcing the full US X Factor line-up in December. Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who stood in as a guest judge on the British version of the show, is also a favourite to join the panel.
Simon said last week: “I’m going to make an announcement within three or four weeks, which is going to tell everyone everything. There will be some surprises.”
Cheryl’s business deals have made her a role model for ambitious Brits, who recently named her one of their most inspirational bussiness people.
