Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole have been named as two of the country’s most inspirational business people, alongside heavyweights such as Alan Sugar, Simon Cowell and Richard Branson.
Victoria’s fashion line has seen her transform her image from ex-Spice Girl and WAG-in-chief to successful business woman in recent years. Her dresses have proved a hit with fellow celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Elle Mcpherson and Cameron Diaz.
The survey, carried out by OfficeCavalry.com, asked Brits which celebrities most inspired them to set up their own business. Lord Alan Sugar topped the list with over a quarter of the votes, no doubt influenced by the success of his TV show The Apprentice.
Other inspiring male celebrities were named as Simon Cowell, Richard Branson, Jamie Oliver and Gordan Ramsey. JK Rowling was named the most inspirational female, with Katie Price, Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama also on the list.
Andy Turner, co-founder of OfficeCavalry.com, said: “Brits are clearly inspired by the determination, drive and ambition often found in rags-to-riches life stories, like those of Alan Sugar and J K Rowling.
“Over half of those surveyed said a celebrity had inspired them to become their own boss, so it’s no surprise to find the likes of Cheryl Cole, Katie Price and Simon Cowell make the grade: their vision, drive and business acumen has struck a chord with the British public.”
