Arsenal hotshot Jack Wilshere had to beg teammate Cesc Fabregas to ask for Lionel Messi’s shirt following Wednesday night’s victory against Barcelona.
The 19-year-old midfielder was the Gunners’ star man putting in a performance well beyond his years at Emirates – holding his own against a crop of world class players.
Barcelona dominated the first half on Wednesday night going ahead one-nil at half-time. At that stage many feared a Barca round.
But Arsenal battled back and pulled off a shock victory against, what is regarded, as one of world’s best ever club teams thanks to second-half strikes from Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin.
Wilshere was one of the game’s stand-out players, battling against World Cup winners Xavi and Iniesta.
And he was rewarded with one of the prize assets in football – the shirt of Barcelona’s star man Lionel Messi.
The rising star uploaded a picture of him and his dad holding a Messi 10 and Xavi 6 shirt each to Twitter.
But Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, has revealed Wilshere didn’t have the guts to ask for the shirts himself.
Fabregas tweeted: “Can’t believe I had to go to get Messi’s shirt for u. U were so scared. You were MOTM so next time please ask urself!” (sic)

I think he did more than hold his own, he was probably the best player on the park.
Jack Wilshire can do anything.
Jack… You can be the best player forever if you always put you leg on the earth…
