A carer who stole almost £9,000 from a dementia patient by using his cash point card has been jailed for 14 months.
Devious Lynn Slade, 42, used the victim’s pin number to withdraw up to £300 a time over a six-month period.
Slade had been working as part of a team looking after elderly people with mental health problems including dementia.
But she stole £8,860 between October 2007 to March 2008 – robbing her victim of 60 per cent of her life savings.
She was jailed for 14 months at Plymouth Crown Court after pleading guilty to eight charges of theft.
Judge Ian Leeming QC said: ”The victim suffered from a number of mental disabilities as her mental powers weakened.
”You took the opportunity to obtain her card and and withdrew cash on numerous occasions.”
