A burglar has been jailed for three years after he was caught targeting 11 homes – in a single day.

Stephen Sheen, 29, began the crime spree in the morning after travelling by bus and meeting up with a friend in Acton, west London.

The crook peered through letter boxes to see if anybody was home home before trying to get inside the properties on March 19.

But he was caught after cutting himself on a shard of glass during a burglary the next day which officers matched to his DNA.

Sheen was jailed for three years after a hearing at Isleworth Crown Court last week in which he admitted conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary.

The court heard how police had followed him on March 19 but Sheen had not managed to break into any homes.

The next day he broke into a home in Acton but left his blood on broken glass.

Sheen was arrested and later claimed that he has been targeting the 11 homes in search of a girl called ‘Kelly’. But the defence was dismissed by the prosecution.

Trainee Detective Constable Kevin Harvey of Brent Crime Squad said: “Stephen Sheen is a persistent offender.

“He was acting in conjunction with another to carry out burglary offences across North West London.

“I am delighted that such a prolific burglar has been caught and I am delighted with the length of the sentence that the court has handed down.”
