The cause of death of a young British woman whose charred remains were found in the desert in Qatar remains a mystery, an inquest has heard.
Primary school teacher Lauren Patterson, 24, disappeared after she and a friend took a lift home from a nightclub in Doha with two men.
Her friend Lea Monet, 22, got out at her apartment but Lauren continued with the men.
One of the men later texted Miss Monet saying she was “all good” but hours later Lauren’s burned body was found by someone flying a hawk.
An inquest into her death on October 12 was opened and adjourned yesterday in Maidstone, Kent .
It heard a post-mortem carried out at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham, Kent, had so far failed to establish her cause of death.
Lauren, of West Malling, Kent, was identified by DNA which was matched to her mother Alison, a reflexologist.
She had been living in Qatar temporarily while teaching at a primary school.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and face the death penalty if convicted under Sharia law.
The inquest will be heard in full once the criminal investigation in Qatar has concluded.
