The wealthy motorist was behind the wheel of the gleaming Aston Martin One-77 when he decided to show his fellow road goers its awesome capabilities.
He took the £1.2 million supercar to speeds in excess of 200kph (124mph) in a 130kph zone when he was detected in a laser trap on the A1 in France.
Two police motorcyclists then caught up with the rare supercar before pulling the driver over, confiscating his licence and handing him an on-the-spot fine of 750 Euros (£650).
However, the Aston driver can feel fortunate to have got off so lightly – most motorists caught travelling at more than 200kph in France have their car confiscated.
The unnamed American businessman had been taking part in the notorious Gumball 3000 Rally when the incident took place.
He had only just had the car delivered and decked it out in a special livery for the event – where entrants travel 3,000 miles over eight days.
They set off from London before visiting Paris, Barcelona, Monaco, Venice, Belgrade, Sofia before arriving in Istanbul.

The incident was caught on camera by YouTuber ‘Shmee150’ who was travelling as part of the Gumball route with a friend.
He said: ”The Aston Martin One-77 absolutely stole the show.
”With an amazing foil wrap it has grabbed everyone’s attention wherever it went.”
”It was unfortunate to see the star car being pulled over but luckily for the owner it wasn’t confiscated and the co-driver was able to take over.”
The Aston Martin One-77 is the iconic brand’s most extreme road-going vehicle.
Engineers fitted the £1.2 million supercar with a 7.3-litre V12 engine which develops a mammoth 750bhp.
This accelerates the One-77 from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of more than 220mph.

A Rolls-Royce Ghost driver (above) taking part in the Gumball Rally was less fortunate when he was pulled over by police for travelling at 137mph.
The Austrian tested positive for cocaine and was thrown in jail overnight with his £200,000 car confiscated by authorities.
