Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano is rumoured to be a target for Arsenal after falling out of favour at the Spanish giants.
The former Liverpool midfielder, who only signed for Barcelona last year, is struggling to make the club’s starting eleven – and is believed to be considering his options.
Mascherano signed for the Spanish champions for £22 million and should be available for a similar price – alerting Arsenal who would see the 26-year-old as an ideal partner to Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the Gunners’ midfield.
The fiery Argentinean made his Premier League debut in 2006 following a controversial loan move to West Ham United.
He failed to fit in at the Upton Park outfit and subsequently joined Liverpool, where he became a pivotal part of the Reds’ midfield.
