Amy Winehouse’s former bodyguard was part of gang who tried to murder a man at his own home, a court heard.
Daniel Yates, 40, was part of a group of four men who allegedly attacked Jamie Usedon, 23, outside his house in Clacton, Essex, on the morning of March 15.
The court heard Yates was certified with Security Industry Authority and had protected dozens of celebs, including tragic singer Winehouse.
But he now stands accused of one charge of conspiracy to murder and one charge of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, which he denies.
His fellow defendants Edwin Schreech-Powell, 30, Robert Knight, 50, and Dale Frame, 26, also deny the charges.
CCTV cameras had shown a taxi driven by Knight had travelled to Clacton on the day of the attack, which left Mr Usedon in hospital for several days.
The jury at Chelmsford Crown Court were told of Frame’s previous convictions – including multiple counts of battery, affray and possessing the class A drug MDMA.
They were also told sim cards and mobile phone records showed each defendant was in contact with at least one other of the men prior to the attack.
The trial continues.
