An actor died after suffering a heart attack during a performance at an outdoor theatre.
The 76-year-old man was winched from his dressing room at the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno near Land’s End in Cornwall on Monday evening.
He was flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where he later died.
The performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was halted after the incident at 9.30pm.
A spokesman for RNAS Culdrose, which co-ordinated the rescue, said the man was not on stage at the time.
He said: ”We received a call at about 9.30pm and when the paramedics arrived it was clear that he needed to get to hospital quickly.
”The crew did everything they could to get him to hospital as quickly as they could but unfortunately he did not recover.”
