This ice cream seller went from 99s to 999 when his van got stuck on the beach – and he had to be winched free by rescue crews.
Puwcao Fabrizio had to be pulled free after his vehicle’s rear wheels sank into the soft sand near the jetty at Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
A tractor belonging to Burnham-on-Sea’s Area Rescue Boat (BARB) charity quickly arrived at the scene and pulled the ice cream van free on Sunday morning.
Mr Fabrizio said: ”I was very grateful for BARB’s help after this unfortunate accident and have made a donation to cover their costs.
”Without their help, I would have been selling ice cream to the fish when the tide reached me!”
BARB volunteer Mike Lowe added: ”We were happy to help pull the vehicle free. It was another reminder about the potential dangers of soft sand and mud on our beaches.”
