50 Cent has been stirring up a sea of controversy by using his Twitter account to mock victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
The rapper, whose notoriously erratic ramblings on the social networking site have gained him more than four million followers, started tweeting jokes as soon as the earthquake first hit.
“Wave will hit at 8am them crazy white boys gonna try to go surfing,” he wrote on hearing that the wave could hit the west coast of the US.
Later he posted: “Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoe’s from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol.”
Presumably in response to complaints from followers he soon backtracked on his comments, writing: “Nah this is nuts but what can anyone do about it. Let’s pray for anyone who has lost someone.”
However, Fiddy’s change of heart didn’t last for long and he was soon up to his old tricks again, tweeting a few hours later: “Man they made a movie about all this 2012 now you think that was a lucky guess.”
He eventually issued a half-apology, explaining: “Some of my tweets are ignorant I do it for shock value. Hate it or love it. I’m cool either way 50cent.”
Fiddy’s Twitter feed has been a source of amusement for many users since he took over control of it from his record company last summer, thanks to his bonkers rants and creative approach to grammar.
Classic tweets from the star include: “I just looked at Kanye page what the f*** kind a spaced out tweets are those. F*** that I aint never looking at that s*** again.”
The current death toll from the Japanese earthquake and tsunami is around 10,000 and is expected to rise considerably over the coming days.
